Pete Bardunias Capital Region Chamber Arrest

ALBANY, N.Y. — Pete Bardunias, 59, senior vice president of the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, was arrested on federal charges Tuesday for allegedly discussing violent sexual acts with someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl. In reality, the girl was an undercover law enforcement officer, according to court documents.

Investigators revealed that Bardunias had been communicating with women, including minors, on a social networking service. During his interactions, Bardunias allegedly boasted about his desires to engage in violent sexual activities. The undercover officer’s profile initially stated her age as 19 but later claimed to be 15.

Over several days starting on September 25, Bardunias reportedly detailed his intentions to the undercover agent, expressing disturbing fantasies about physical harm, including suffocation and torture. He allegedly indicated wanting to create a “torture chamber” and expressed interest in gang rape.

During their chats, when the officer mentioned bullying at school, Bardunias responded that he wished he could be there for her and expressed jealousy over other boys’ interest in her.

After arranging a meeting in Warren County, directly across from the high school he assumed the girl attended, Bardunias arrived at the park location on Monday. He was stopped by law enforcement after circling the area twice.

Upon consenting to a search of his vehicle, authorities discovered his mobile devices contained bondage and masochistic materials. They also found items at Bardunias’ residence consistent with his mentioned “torture chamber,” including sex toys and restraints.

Bardunias has been charged with attempted enticement of a minor and is set to be arraigned in U.S. District Court in Albany. Capital Region Chamber President Mark Eagan confirmed Bardunias’ arrest and stated he has been suspended without pay during the ongoing investigation.
