Champions League Day Three: PSG, Monaco, and Marseille Face Key Matches

Leverkusen, Germany — The third matchday of the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League unfolds this Tuesday and Wednesday, featuring critical matches for French clubs. Paris Saint-Germain kicks things off on Tuesday with a challenging away match against Bayer Leverkusen. PSG seeks to secure three points and position themselves better for qualification as the tournament progresses.
Meanwhile, Olympique de Marseille confronts a direct rival in Sporting Lisbon, aiming to gain vital points in Portugal. They are determined to demonstrate their strength this season and avoid leaving empty-handed. AS Monaco, following their encounter with Manchester City, faces Tottenham Hotspur this week. A loss for Monaco could further jeopardize their standing in the tournament.
This edition of the Champions League marks its second season under a new format. Each team participates in eight matches, half at home and half away, facing different opponents from September 16 to January 28. Points are accumulated for global rankings, with the top eight teams advancing directly to the knockout stage.
The teams ranked from 9th to 24th will enter a playoff round at the end of February for a chance to qualify, while the bottom twelve will be eliminated. Results from these matches will be updated in real-time once final whistles are blown.
The referee for the PSG-Bayer Leverkusen match will be Gil Manzano, officiating his second game in this edition, having previously overseen the 2-2 draw between Monaco and Manchester City on October 1. Since his debut in the Champions League in September 2017, he has officiated 27 matches, including four involving PSG.
