Street Fighter 6 Character Changes

LOS ANGELES, CA — The latest season of Street Fighter 6 has been officially released, bringing a wave of changes to the character roster. Many fighters received buffs and nerfs that could alter their viability in competitive play.

Notably, Ryu has emerged as a top contender following significant upgrades. His Level 1 super, Shinku Hadoken, now boasts increased speed and damage, making him a formidable opponent. These changes allow Ryu to capitalize on opponents’ mistakes effectively.

“Ryu is now the strongest shoto in the game,” said a pro player who wished to remain anonymous. “His improvements have revolutionized his gameplay and put him back on the map.”

Meanwhile, Rashid remains a strong choice with his reliable Level 2 super, Ysaar, which continues to be considered one of the best utility options in the game. Akuma, although slightly nerfed, holds onto his competitive edge due to his remaining strong fundamentals.

In the A-Tier, characters like Ken and Ed have seen better days. Ken’s recent changes include a knockdown effect from his light Jinrai Kick, limiting his combo options. Ed, for his part, has suffered a major reduction in his Flicker Jabs’ effectiveness, making them more dangerous to execute in competitive matches.

On the flip side, E. Honda and Terry have received advantageous adjustments. Honda’s Taiho Cannon Lift now allows for new combo paths, while Terry benefits from improved counter-hit conversion due to changes in his heavy kick.

Other notable mentions are Juri, who has seen minor nerfs, and Marisa, whose improved crouching medium kick may lead her to more competitive viability. Conversely, Manon finds herself struggling after various adjustments that decrease her offensive potential.

Lastly, Jamie and Lily remain at the bottom-tier of the rankings. Despite some minor changes to Lily’s forward dash and target combo, both characters still appear weak in the current meta.

As players delve into the latest season, feedback on character placement and effectiveness is expected to evolve rapidly. This most recent tier list will likely shift as the community gains more insight into the matchups throughout the season.
