Chaos erupted in central London during rush hour as several military horses broke loose from their riders, causing mayhem in the streets. Witnesses described a scene of total chaos as the runaway horses, including a white horse covered in blood, galloped through busy streets.

The incident occurred in various locations, including Aldwych, Buckingham Palace Road, and Belgravia. One of the horses collided with a parked taxi, smashing the vehicle’s windows, while another crashed into a double-decker tour bus, shattering the windscreen.

A group of seven horses and six soldiers from the Household Cavalry, based at Hyde Park barracks, were on an exercise in Belgravia when the horses got spooked, causing four service personnel to be thrown from their horses. Amid the chaos, five horses got loose and ran through the city.

Emergency services, including the Metropolitan Police and City of London Police, responded to the incident. London Ambulance Service received multiple calls reporting injuries related to the loose horses, with four individuals being taken to the hospital for treatment.

Witnesses near Victoria and Trafalgar Square described scenes of panic as the horses galloped through the streets. Reports indicated that some horses collided with vehicles, causing damage and injuries to both service personnel and civilians.

Efforts to contain the loose horses spanned several miles, with two of the animals being captured near Limehouse Tunnel. The British Army confirmed that all horses were eventually recovered and returned to Hyde Park Barracks for care.

An Army spokesperson reassured the public that all injured personnel and horses were receiving appropriate medical attention. The rare incident left bystanders and onlookers in shock, as the horses created a spectacle in the heart of London during the morning rush hour.

As the city gradually returned to normalcy, the aftermath of the chaotic event left a lasting impression on those who witnessed the unexpected sight of military horses running amok in the bustling streets of London.
