Chappell Roan, a rising star known for her vibrant performances and distinct style, was nearly unrecognizable at a recent concert in Los Angeles. The 26-year-old, famous for her song “Hot To Go,” attended Charli XCX and Troye Sivan‘s “Sweat Tour” at the Kia Forum, sporting a long, jet-black wig that starkly contrasted her usual image. The singer, typically recognized by her bright, clown-like makeup and long auburn curls, made the appearance more subdued, with toned-down makeup choices.

Roan’s creative director, Ramisha Sattar, captured this new look in a brief video snippet posted on Instagram Stories on a Wednesday night, showcasing Roan’s excitement as she enjoyed the concert among thousands of other fans. The show, part of a tour that launched in Detroit last month, is set to conclude in Seattle on October 23.

Several public figures, including Katy Perry, Lily-Rose Depp, and Sasha and Malia Obama, were reportedly present at the Los Angeles concert. Ariana Madix from “Vanderpump Rules” and singer Madison Beer were also seen at the event, highlighting the show’s widespread appeal and star-studded audience.

Chappell Roan, born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, has returned to the stage recently after a brief hiatus due to health concerns. Earlier in October, she had to cancel her performance at the All Things Go festival, citing the overwhelming pressures of her career. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she expressed her regret for missing the shows in New York City and Washington, D.C., and emphasized the importance of prioritizing her health.

The singer’s poignant message also touched on her need to establish boundaries, stating, “I chose this career path because I love music and art… I do not accept harassment of any kind.” Her decision to temporarily step back reflects her commitment to offering genuine performances to her fans.

In a recent interview, Roan shared her admiration for Charli XCX, describing their friendship as kindred and supportive. “I love Charli so much. She was the first to reach out and check on me,” Roan recounted, expressing excitement for witnessing Charli’s success and artistic authenticity.
