Chicago Schools Prepare for Winter Storm Impact on Classes
CHICAGO, Illinois – As a winter storm approaches the Chicago area, many local schools have begun announcing closures, delays, and transitions to e-learning for Monday, November 10, 2025.
Meteorologist Kylee Miller from CBS News Chicago warned that hazardous driving conditions could impact the start of the work and school week. She advised residents to stay home if possible.
Despite the warnings, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) sent out an email on Sunday indicating that classes would continue as scheduled on Monday. The email assured families that the Facilities Team would ensure that school buildings are warm and clear of snow. They also stated that any schedule changes would be communicated via email, text, and robocalls.
Local superintendents are set to meet at 4:30 a.m. on Monday to evaluate the situation and make necessary adjustments. A letter addressed to families emphasized timely updates through multiple communication channels.
One school district announced it would operate on a two-hour delay on Monday and urged families to exercise caution during the storm. Safety was highlighted as the first priority, and additional updates are expected on their website and social media.
The Emergency Closing Center provides monitoring for all school closures, delays, and other organizational changes amid the storm. Families are encouraged to stay updated as conditions evolve.
