CHICAGO – The Chicago area experienced spring warmth on Thursday, but a cold front from Lake Michigan brought cooler temperatures along the shoreline. Highs reached the 70s and 80s inland, while areas near the lake saw a drop to the 50s and 60s in the afternoon.

Today, the forecast predicts mostly cloudy skies with high temperatures around 70°F. There is a chance of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing during the afternoon, although widespread rain is not expected. This evening will bring a chilly, clear night.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday is expected to be cooler, with highs in the mid-50s and a good chance of rain and thunderstorms, especially early in the afternoon. Sunday will bring a slight warm-up, with highs ranging from the mid-60s to lower 70s.

On Monday, temperatures are projected to rise back into the 80s, with a possibility of thunderstorms at night. Tuesday may also continue the trend of warm weather, but storms could return by Tuesday night.

FOX 32 meteorologist Kaitlin Cody warns that Friday night could bring strong thunderstorms, potentially with damaging winds and hail, as the region braces for severe weather. Residents are advised to stay alert and prepared for changing conditions over the holiday weekend.
