Chicco Car Seat Recall Announcement

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Chicco is recalling nearly 31,000 of its MyFit Zip Air Harness and Booster child restraint seats due to safety concerns that could increase the risks of injury in a crash. The recall affects specific model numbers 07079561970070 and 04079561190070, produced between September 1, 2020, and August 31, 2024.

The potential hazard arises when the seats are used in certain configurations, allowing excessive chest movement during an impact. Chicco has identified that these particular models feature a modified lower anchor and tether for children (LATCH) system and a distinct seat pad design from their non-recalled counterparts.

As of now, Chicco is developing a remedy for the issue but has not provided a timeline for when notifications will be issued to consumers. Owners of the affected car seats can reach out to Chicco’s customer service at 1-877-424-4226 for more information.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) emphasizes the importance of appropriate child car seat installation, stating that improper use can lead to serious injury or death in the event of a crash. Parents are encouraged to check their car seat models against the recall list and ensure they are using the seats safely.

Chicco has a longstanding reputation for providing quality childcare products. The company continues to work towards addressing this issue promptly to protect the safety of children on the road.
