Chiclayo Crime Scene Shooting Drug Dealer

CHICLAYO, Peru — A man believed to be involved in drug dealing was shot multiple times near his home on Avenida del Triunfo in the Cruz de la Esperanza neighborhood on Sunday, according to local authorities.

Family members identified the victim as Carlos Córdova Heredia, 34. Witnesses reported that he was outside his residence when two individuals arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire.

The man’s wife, who wished to remain anonymous, recounted hearing several gunshots before rushing outside. She found her husband lying on the ground, unresponsive.

Córdova was later taken to the Regional Hospital of Lambayeque, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Authorities noted that Córdova had been arrested on April 16 for possessing over 300 packets of cocaine but was released shortly after. Relatives now fear that this background could have contributed to the fatal attack.

Investigators continue to look into the case and seek to understand the motives behind the violence, with initial assessments suggesting potential gang involvement.
