KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has returned to the team’s facility as he serves a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Although Rice is not allowed to practice, he can attend meetings and be around his teammates.

Rice has been sidelined since the start of the season due to a suspension stemming from a car crash in March 2024 that caused multiple injuries. He was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days of jail time. However, under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, players serving a suspension can participate in limited activities during the latter half of their suspension period.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expressed optimism with Rice back in the building. “We do get ‘4’ back, and I know the guys will be fired up about that to see him,” Reid said. “He can’t practice, but he can do the other stuff. Just having him around, he’s a good positive energy to have around.”

The Chiefs have played the first three weeks of the season without both Rice and wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who is recovering from a shoulder injury. Worthy, who was hurt during the season opener, has returned to practice but has not yet played in a game.

As the Chiefs prepare for an AFC showdown against the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium this Sunday, quarterback Patrick Mahomes noted the impact of Rice’s presence. The Chiefs (1-2) are looking to gain momentum after a recent win over the New York Giants.

Rice will still miss three more games before he is eligible to return to the lineup against the Las Vegas Raiders. In the meantime, rookie Jalen Royal has stepped up as an emergency option during Rice’s absence, as the team adjusts its receiving corps.
