ORLANDO, Fla. – After an unseasonably warm start to February with temperatures mostly in the 80s, a series of cold fronts is set to bring significant chill back to Central Florida. The first front is expected to arrive Thursday night, cooling temperatures slightly while still maintaining highs in the upper 70s.
The more substantial cold front is forecast to move in on Sunday, potentially bringing rain that could affect the Daytona 500, a popular motorsport event in the region. With this front, cooler air will push into the area, significantly dropping afternoon highs.
On Monday, temperatures are expected to struggle to climb out of the 60s, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s by Tuesday morning. This stark contrast to the earlier part of the month could have residents reaching for jackets and warmer clothing once again.
After a brief lull in the cold, another front is likely to sweep through the area midweek, reinforcing below-normal temperatures for the latter part of February. Although this cold snap will not be as severe as the one experienced in January, it is nonetheless a reminder that winter is not yet over in Florida.
Jonathan Kegges, who has covered weather for News 6 since June 2019, stated, “While this warm weather has felt like spring, it’s crucial for residents to stay informed about the upcoming cold front and prepare for the shift in temperature.” The News 6 weather team emphasizes the importance of staying updated with forecasts and alerts as the cold fronts make their way into the Sunshine State.
