Christina And Tarek Flip Off Premiere Emotional Conversation

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Christina Hall and Tarek El Moussa, former co-stars of HGTV‘s ‘Flip or Flop,’ reunited for an emotional conversation during the premiere of their new show, ‘The Flip Off,’ on Wednesday night. The exes, who divorced in 2016 after a tumultuous seven-year marriage, opened up about their past struggles and offered forgiveness to each other in a heartfelt exchange.

In an exclusive clip from the series premiere, Christina, 41, tearfully reflected on the challenges she faced after their split, including her tendency to rush into relationships that weren’t right for her. ‘I don’t think anyone understands just how much stuff we went through,’ she told Tarek, 43, during their conversation at her Newport Beach home. ‘We met when we were so young.’

The pair, who married in 2009 when Tarek was 24 and Christina was 22, built a successful house-flipping business together, which was documented on their hit HGTV show. However, their marriage ended in 2016 following a highly publicized incident involving a gun. During the premiere, Christina and Tarek addressed the emotional toll of their divorce and the impact it had on their roles as parents.

‘When our stuff imploded, I felt like not only did I lose… we were best friends, but also I felt like I lost like, I need to be a full-time mom,’ Christina said, breaking down in tears. ‘And that really, really, really hurt me a lot and really affected me.’

Tarek, who has since remarried and welcomed a son with his wife Heather Rae El Moussa, acknowledged his role in their marital struggles. ‘I understand that feeling of being a little bit lost,’ he said. ‘And I acknowledge that I’m a big part, if not the entire part, of all of this.’

The conversation took a poignant turn when Christina apologized for her past actions, prompting Tarek to reassure her. ‘You forgive me?’ Christina asked. ‘A hundred percent, yeah,’ Tarek replied. ‘I hold zero against you.’

Christina also praised Tarek for his growth as a father. ‘You’re a great dad. I’m really proud of you,’ she said. ‘You’ve come a really long way. I can see it, you know. You’re so much calmer, you’re so much wiser, for real.’

In separate confessional clips, the two delved into the events that led to the end of their marriage. Tarek revealed that his health struggles, including a cancer diagnosis and a back injury, contributed to their difficulties. ‘I lost my way, lost who I was,’ he said. ‘I just wasn’t the best husband. I wasn’t the best father. You know, I own my s—. It wasn’t me, but it was me.’

Christina, who has since remarried twice and shares a son with her second husband Ant Anstead, acknowledged Tarek’s growth since their split. ‘Tarek was more focused on work than his family,’ she said. ‘When we split up, it’s like it forced him to be like, oh, I have to be present for these kids.’

The pair share two children together — daughter Taylor, 14, and son Brayden, 9. Christina also has a 5-year-old son, Hudson, with Anstead, while Tarek has a 2-year-old son, Tristan, with Heather. Both exes have moved on with their lives but continue to co-parent their children and collaborate professionally.

‘The Flip Off’ features Christina and Tarek as competitors in a house-flipping showdown, with Heather serving as Tarek’s teammate and Christina relying on her design team from her solo series, ‘Christina on the Coast.’ The show airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV.
