NEW YORK CITY, NY – Chuck Scarborough, an iconic figure in New York journalism, was inducted into the Deadline Club New York Journalism Hall of Fame on November 20. The ceremony took place at the prestigious Harvard Club in New York City, marking a significant milestone in Scarborough’s illustrious career.

Among the notable attendees were fellow NBC personalities, including Today co-anchor Al Roker, who shared his admiration for Scarborough in a heartfelt Instagram post. Roker, 71, expressed gratitude for the mentorship he received from Scarborough and Sue Simmons during his early career. “Before I landed on @todayshow, I was mentored by two legends: Sue Simmons and Chuck Scarborough,” Roker wrote, alongside photos from the celebration.

Scarborough, 82, has had a remarkable career spanning over five decades, during which he became a beloved figure in local television news at WNBC. His tenure there lasted from 1974 until 2024, while Simmons was a steadfast presence at the station from 1980 to 2012.

Roker reflected on the significance of the gathering, stating that Scarborough’s achievement is a testament to his dedication to journalism. The celebration also featured former WNBC colleagues, including Janice Huff and Len Berman.
