Cillian Murphy Confirmed to Reprise Role in ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie
Renowned actor Cillian Murphy has officially been confirmed to return to his iconic role as Tommy Shelby in the highly anticipated ‘Peaky Blinders’ movie. The series creator, Stephen Knight, revealed the exciting news during the premiere of his latest BBC drama ‘The Town‘.
Knight expressed his certainty about Murphy reprising the role, mentioning that filming is set to commence in September in the familiar setting of Digbeth.
‘Peaky Blinders’ initially aired on BBC Two before gaining immense popularity on streaming platforms like Netflix. The show’s finale aired in April, but Knight had always hinted at furthering the story through a movie adaptation.
Meanwhile, Murphy is riding high on his recent success, having clinched his first Oscar for his portrayal of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan‘s ‘Oppenheimer.’ His award-winning streak included a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and several other accolades.
At the prestigious Academy Awards, Murphy triumphed over other talented nominees such as Bradley Cooper, Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti, and Jeffrey Wright. This victory also marks Murphy as the third Irish actor to secure the coveted best actor Oscar.
