Cincinnati Weather Forecast Storm Clouds

CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Cincinnati area is bracing for potential severe weather as rain chances increase this weekend. Chief Meteorologist Kevin Robinson reported record-breaking warmth on Thursday, with temperatures reaching 77 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 76.

While the weather has been dry and pleasant, the forecast predicts rain and possible thunderstorms beginning late Friday into early Saturday morning. “We have two main opportunities for significant weather, one Friday night and another Saturday afternoon,” Robinson said during the weather update.

Despite the heightened chances of rain, conditions in the Tri-State are expected to be less severe than in the Midwest, which is likely to face a more dangerous outbreak of severe weather. Robinson noted, “The threat level decreases significantly as we move east into our area, though it’s not completely absent. However, the instability needed for vigorous thunderstorms is considerably lower here.”

With two main rain events anticipated, strong winds and heavy rainfall are potential concerns for Saturday afternoon and evening. Experts advise residents to stay alert as these weather changes approach.

The likelihood of scattered showers Thursday evening remains, but the greatest risk lies ahead. Robinson indicated, “Tomorrow, we could see some rainfall, but it might not be impactful for everyone. Not everyone will see rain, although the chance is present.”

As for Friday, sunny skies are predicted, with temperatures expected to hit around 73 degrees, before thunderstorms are forecasted late Friday night. “It’s going to be a windy and warm day on Friday,” Robinson said, adding that Saturday morning may offer decent weather for events like the noon parade in downtown Cincinnati.

Looking ahead, cooler temperatures are anticipated on Sunday following the storm system, moving into Saint Patrick’s Day on Monday. Residents are reminded to prepare for changing conditions as the weekend approaches.
