GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – Former Green Bay Packers player Clay Matthews volunteered his time with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Green Bay to help build a home during NFL Draft Week on April 24, 2025.

Matthews, who is known as the Packers’ all-time sack leader, joined a group of dedicated volunteers to contribute to the project located on the city’s east side. The home being built has the potential to support up to 91 individuals in need.

Jessica Diederich, CEO of Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity, expressed her appreciation for the NFL’s involvement. “It’s really exciting for us to be able to shed light on what our community is doing when we have a national spotlight,” she said, highlighting the importance of raising awareness for local nonprofit missions.

The NFL partnered with Lowe’s for this initiative, which included not just volunteer labor but also a generous donation of $7,000 worth of tools to aid in the construction efforts. This collaboration aims to make a significant impact in the community as the spotlight of the NFL Draft draws visitors from across the country and beyond.

“It’s just really good exposure for our organization,” Diederich added, emphasizing the opportunity to showcase community efforts during a busy week in Green Bay.
