Texas Cold Front Weather Update

HOUSTON, Texas — A cold front moving through Texas this weekend is set to bring a noticeable temperature drop and an end to the recent warm spell. Starting Sunday, temperatures are expected to fall into the 50s and 60s across the region, with morning lows hitting 59 degrees for the first time since May 4.

According to Chief Meteorologist Anthony Yanez at KPRC 2, residents should prepare for cooler conditions as they head out Monday morning. Families are advised to dress children in layers, as temperatures will rise to the 80s by the afternoon. However, moisture from the Gulf is expected to return, bringing back the humidity.

A burn ban remains in effect for many counties due to ongoing elevated fire risks. The combination of dry land, low humidity, and gusty winds increases the danger, making it crucial for residents to adhere to safety guidelines.

On Tuesday, another front will approach, leading to a slight chance of showers but a more significant drop in humidity. Daytime highs will decrease from the 90s to the mid-80s by the middle of the week.

In San Antonio, temperatures rose to the low 90s Saturday, nearing a record high. However, the arrival of the cold front promises a cooldown with evening temperatures falling into the upper 40s and low 50s by Sunday night.

The midweek forecast indicates a return to comfortable conditions as humidity drops. Despite a brief return of warmth on Monday, cooler weather is expected to settle in as another front moves through at the end of the week. If residents notice interesting weather, they are encouraged to share their photos and videos with local news outlets.
