Black Friday Cold Weather D.c. 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A cold front has made Black Friday in the D.C. area a chilly experience for holiday shoppers. Winds gusting up to 35 mph are making temperatures in the mid-40s feel even colder, dropping wind chill to the upper 20s and lower 30s, according to 7News First Alert Meteorologist Mark Peña.

Peña noted that while sunshine returns, it does little to warm the air. “If you’re doing outdoor shopping today, remember to bundle up and stay warm,” he advised. Although no rain is forecasted, Peña warned that the wind will significantly lower the perceived temperature.

Tonight, temperatures are expected to dip to the upper 30s, but with the wind chill, it will feel like the upper 10s. Shoppers are reminded to dress warmly as they navigate the cold streets.

For those planning to shop over the weekend, a slight reprieve from the gusty winds will occur on Saturday and Sunday. Forecasts indicate highs reaching the 40s, but brisk conditions will remain.

A look ahead shows that temperatures will stay below seasonal averages next week, with highs expected in the low 50s on Monday. Windy conditions and a weather impact alert will accompany the change in weather.

As shoppers step out for deals, the National Weather Service reminds everyone to stay safe and warm during this cold holiday shopping weekend.
