Cold Front and Snow Expected This Weekend as Mild Days Fade
QUAD CITIES, Iowa/Ill. — A mix of weather is on tap as temperatures cool following a week of unseasonably mild days. Monday will see light rain developing in the afternoon, bringing a chance of precipitation across the region.
High temperatures for Monday are expected to reach the low 50s, with winds from the south at 5 mph. By Tuesday, partly sunny skies will prevail, but cooler temperatures will settle in, dropping highs to the 40s.
According to meteorologists, an arctic front will sweep through over the weekend, significantly dropping temperatures and increasing chances of snow. Chief Meteorologist Roger Griswold from Maine’s Total Weather reports that residents should prepare for the change as highs fall into the 30s on Thanksgiving Day.
Throughout the week, conditions will remain cool, although some breaks of sunshine are expected, particularly by Wednesday and Thursday, as the weather stabilizes. Friday, however, brings the possibility of rain showers due to an incoming low-pressure system, especially for mountain regions.
“Temperatures will bounce back during the day, but as the weekend approaches, we could see a potent winter storm system impacting our area,” Griswold noted.
The fluctuating forecast indicates the necessity for residents to keep an eye on changing conditions as we move closer to the holiday weekend. Stay tuned for more updates as the situation develops.
