Colman Domingo: Busy Actor on Upcoming Roles and Valentino Beauty Ambassadorship
Beacon, New York – Colman Domingo, the Oscar nominee, is currently busy filming season two of Netflix’s The Four Seasons while discussing his recent ventures during a video call earlier this week.
On the call, Domingo revealed that despite inclement weather warnings affecting New York City, his spirits remained high as he shared insights about his work. “I feel like a lot of times, I get caught up in very prestige dramas or series,” he said. “Most people who know me know that I’m very playful, and that I’m always willing to reinvent and try something different.”
Domingo is not just an actor; he’s also directing the first episode of The Four Seasons and starring in the remaining episodes. He’s slated to promote his upcoming film The Running Man next month and is attached to multiple projects, including a biopic on Michael Jackson and a secretive project with director Steven Spielberg.
Throughout the year, Domingo has also co-hosted events and participated in creative ventures like appearing in a music video for Sabrina Carpenter, donning drag for the occasion. He was also named Valentino Beauty’s first global fragrance ambassador.
When asked about his ambassadorship with Valentino Beauty, Domingo expressed pride in the partnership. “If there’s a brand that I really believe in, it’s Valentino,” he stated, emphasizing the connection between fragrance and personal expression. “I think I own about 200 [fragrances],” he added. “When you walk into a room, you want to make them feel a certain way. I’m very conscious of that.”
He discussed his approach to fragrances, saying he often chooses scents to complement his characters. “I usually buy a scent for a role, as part of my character,” he noted. “What does a character want to leave behind in a room? His essence?”
Domingo’s versatility extends beyond fragrance to fashion, where he is often dubbed one of the best-dressed men in Hollywood. He remarked, “I think it’s not just the style, it’s about how I feel.”
His passion for storytelling informs his choices in scripts. “I have to be very curious about a character and a story,” he explained. “I’m trying to find all the people that live in me.”
In addition to The Four Seasons, Domingo has numerous projects lined up, including a film starring Sydney Sweeney and a portrayal of Nat King Cole. He is eager to play characters that challenge and reveal different facets of his personality.
As for the rumors circulating about him possibly joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Domingo laughed, “I’d rather be in the conversation than not in the conversation,” showing excitement about the speculation.
Domingo is making his mark not only in film but also in fragrance and fashion, constantly exploring and redefining his artistic identity.
