Concord-Carlisle High School Community Mourning Loss of Three Students

CONCORD, Mass. (WHDH) – The Concord-Carlisle High School community held a memorial on Sunday to mourn three high school seniors who died in a car crash while on spring break in Florida. The tragic incident occurred on Monday night when an SUV carrying the teens collided with a tractor-trailer in Walton County.
The crash, which happened on U.S. 98 about one mile west of South Watersound Parkway at 9:28 p.m., sent the vehicle off the highway and into a wooded area. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that seniors Jimmy McIntosh, Hannah Wasserman, and Maisey O’Donnell were pronounced dead at the scene. Another senior from Concord-Carlisle is currently in critical condition.
Superintendent Laurie Hunter expressed the community’s sorrow in a statement, describing the loss as “devastating.” She noted, “We are very appreciative of the outpouring of love during what is absolutely heartbreaking.” Hunter also mentioned that O’Donnell is part of the organ donation program, instilling hope in the midst of tragedy.
Current students at Concord-Carlisle are on spring break, but grief counselors have been made available for support. They will return to the school next Monday when students resume classes. “This is a terrible loss. This is a tragic loss,” said Sevoi Hightower, a junior at the school. “We’re all just kind of in shock, trying to wrap our heads around this.”
The Florida State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which may take up to nine months to complete. Meanwhile, other local schools have held moments of silence to honor the lives of the three students. Hunter emphasized that the community will navigate the difficult days ahead together.
As the grief continues to unfold, caution has been advised for those wishing to assist. A GoFundMe page meant to help the victims’ families was removed due to concerns it could be fraudulent. All donations are being held while the claims are investigated.
