Conshohocken Faces Dual Crisis: Water Main Break, Power Outage Amid Freeze
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — A water main break and a power outage struck Conshohocken on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025, leaving residents without water and heat during freezing temperatures. The dual crises prompted emergency responses and traffic disruptions across the borough.
The water main break occurred along Fayette Street, affecting the 600 to 1200 blocks. Aqua, the local water utility, dispatched crews to assess and repair the damage. The break caused water pooling at the intersection of Spring Mill Avenue and East Eighth Avenue, forcing its closure. Drivers were advised to expect delays or detours between Tenth and Eleventh avenues.
Simultaneously, a power outage hit the area after utility poles collapsed on West First Avenue and Maple Street. PECO crews worked late into the night to restore electricity. The outage left many residents without heat, prompting the borough to open a warming center at the community center on 515 Henry Street.
“We’re doing everything we can to address both issues and ensure the safety of our residents,” said a borough spokesperson. “The warming center is available for anyone in need of shelter.”
Residents affected by the water main break were advised to contact Aqua Customer Service at (877)-987-2782 for updates. The borough urged patience as crews worked to resolve the issues.
These incidents highlight the challenges of maintaining infrastructure during extreme weather conditions. Conshohocken officials continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as repairs progress.
