Controversial Book on Brigitte Macron Tops Amazon Sales

PARIS, France — The book ‘Devenir Brigitte’ by French author Xavier Poussard, self-published on February 21, recently surged to the top of Amazon’s sales charts, sparking intense debate.
Poussard, who claims to be an investigative journalist, alleges in his controversial work that Brigitte Macron, France’s First Lady, may have a transgender identity. The book also includes serious allegations of pedophilia and incest within the presidential couple, raising concerns about its impact and credibility.
The book is reportedly presented by Candace Owens, an influential ultraconservative American personality known for her provocative views. Owens has previously promoted transphobic theories in a YouTube podcast viewed by nearly 4 million subscribers, notably discussing the topic in January 2025.
Owens, 35, is recognized for her strong ties to the Trump administration and was the head of communications for Turning Point USA, a conservative think tank founded by Charlie Kirk. She has emerged as a polarizing figure within political discourse, often criticized for her staunch opposition to social movements such as Black Lives Matter.
In April 2018, rapper Kanye West tweeted admiration for Owens, praising her intellectual approach, while former President Donald Trump has previously labeled her “very intelligent” during a campaign event in 2020.
Amidst Poussard’s unfolding narrative, criticism has arisen regarding the sensationalist nature of the allegations and their origins, prompting discussions about the responsibility of authors and influencers in public discourse.
The ramifications of the book’s success highlight a growing trend of sensationalism in literature and media, where facts can become overshadowed by speculation and conspiracy theories.
