Cooler Weather Ahead with Possible Showers in Wisconsin

Madison, Wisconsin – A warm start to the week will transition into cooler temperatures and occasional rain as Wisconsin prepares for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Wednesday marked the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures reaching 88 degrees in Milwaukee, prompting an Air Quality Alert due to elevated ozone levels.
Following the heat, residents can expect a significant temperature drop on Thursday, with highs around 70 near the lakeshore and in the mid-70s further inland. Showers and thunderstorms are anticipated late Wednesday and into early Thursday as a frontal boundary moves through the area, potentially bringing gusty winds and hail.
The weather forecast for Thursday predicts partly sunny skies with a chance of isolated to scattered thundershowers. Overnight lows will dip to about 60 degrees. Forecasters remain cautious about the air quality, which may fall into the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category again on Thursday due to wildfire smoke mixing down toward the surface.
Looking ahead, there will be ongoing chances for rain through the weekend. Friday and Saturday may see more scattered showers and thunderstorms, with high temperatures hovering in the lower 70s. Sunday is expected to be drier, ideal for Father’s Day celebrations.
As the week progresses, temperatures will rise again, reaching the upper 70s and potentially lower 80s by mid-next week. Heavy rain and thunderstorms may return as well, especially later on Thursday into the weekend.
