Cooler Weather and Rain Showers Expected This Week in Washington
WASHINGTON (7News) — A cold front is bringing rain and cooler temperatures to the region early Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025. The day will start mild and muggy, with morning showers giving way to clearer skies by afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to reach around 70 degrees later in the day as breezy northerly winds pick up. Gusty breezes will calm by sunset, leading to a cool evening where temperatures could fall into the 40s.
A Frost Advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday in parts of western Maryland and West Virginia, where temperatures may dip into the upper 30s. Thursday will be one of the coldest days of the season, with highs in the mid-60s, significantly below the average of 72 degrees for this time of year.
Conditions will be sunny but cool, making it a great day to dress warmly. Friday morning is expected to bring some of the lowest temperatures so far this season, with lows in the upper 30s to mid-40s in the D.C. Metro area and near-freezing conditions in mountainous areas where Freeze Warnings are issued.
Looking toward the weekend, Saturday and Sunday will remain below normal, with highs in the upper 60s. A new system moving up from the south might bring rain late Saturday into Sunday.
The forecast suggests isolated showers could linger into the beginning of the week, with highs around 70 degrees on Tuesday. Residents are advised to keep an eye on the weather updates, especially regarding the potential Nor’easter forecasted to affect the area.
