Denver Weather Forecast Snow Rain

DENVER, Colo. — Starting tonight, temperatures are expected to drop significantly in Denver following a weekend of record heat, bringing with it scattered showers across the region.

According to meteorologist Stacey Donaldson, rain is likely in the lower elevations, with the areas around Boulder and Denver experiencing the heaviest rainfall in the early evening. As the night progresses, conditions will improve, tapering off into the early hours.

In the mountainous regions, light snowfall may occur at elevations above 6,000 feet. However, as temperatures drop, snow levels could descend to around 5,000 feet, although the majority of precipitation will conclude before this happens.

“Monday will feel noticeably chillier,” Donaldson said. “Most of the rain will have moved east by the time people are commuting, and skies are expected to clear throughout the morning.”

Residents can look forward to crisp, sunny conditions by the afternoon. Donaldson describes it as a “calmer, cooler day” to kick off the week, with temperatures peaking in the low 70s across the plains and ranging in the 50s and 60s in mountain areas.

The warm weather will again make a brief return on Tuesday as a ridge of high pressure—an area of warm, dry air—settles over the region. Clouds may roll in during the day, with light mountain showers possible but overall conditions expected to remain dry.

Midweek will usher in a shift in the weather, as forecasts indicate a stronger storm system forming off the West Coast. This system is projected to influence local weather conditions between Wednesday and Friday, with models suggesting an increase in moisture and chances for both mountain snow and lower elevation rain.

“By the end of the week, we can anticipate unsettled weather with widespread rainfall, especially on Friday into the weekend,” added Donaldson. “Mountain areas are also expected to receive some snow.”

As details surrounding the impending storm are still unfolding, officials urge residents to stay updated on the forecast. With a potentially wetter and cooler weekend on the horizon, it’s essential to be prepared for changing conditions.
