Coptic Church Event Muslims Christians Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, March 15 — The Egyptian community in Kuwait celebrated unity and fraternity as Muslims and Christians gathered for the annual ‘Ghabqa of Love’ event.

The gathering took place in an atmosphere filled with love and solidarity, featuring participation from high-level officials and religious leaders. Egyptian Ambassador Osama Shaltout delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the strong ties between Egyptians and Kuwaitis.

Shaltout praised the tradition of the Coptic Church for fostering harmony between the two faiths, calling it a testament to national and human cohesion. He noted that the overlap of Ramadan fasting and the Coptic Great Lent added to this year’s festive ambiance.

“These moments bring hope and happiness,” Shaltout said. He outlined Egypt’s ongoing development plans under the ‘New Republic’ vision, focusing on national projects aimed at enhancing both economic and social progression.

The ambassador also highlighted Egypt’s commitment to refining human resources through improvements in education and healthcare, alongside initiatives to generate new job opportunities. He concluded his speech with gratitude to the Kuwaiti leadership for their support of the Egyptian community and extended wishes for continued safety and prosperity in Kuwait.

Father Bigol Anba Bishoy of the Egyptian Coptic Church welcomed attendees, reflecting on the brotherhood and love shared among the community. “Kuwait always embraces everyone with its large heart. The ‘Ghabqa of Love’ conveys a message of peace and coexistence among various religions and cultures,” he stated.

Bishoy pointed out Kuwait’s historic role as a refuge for peace and dialogue. “Throughout its history, Kuwait has proven it is an oasis of peace and coexistence, fostering love and brotherhood among all its residents.”

Musaed Al-Zamel also addressed the gathering, expressing delight in attending an event that symbolizes brotherhood and tolerance ingrained in Kuwaiti society for centuries. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s status as a cultural and dialogic beacon, recently designated as the Capital of Arab Culture and Capital of Arab Media.

Al-Zamel extended greetings for the holy month of Ramadan, setting a tone of unity and reflection. Dr. Wasfi Aziz opened the event with poetic verses that encapsulated the spiritual essence and significance of the occasion.
