Craig Conover Reveals Paige DeSorbo’s ‘Confusing’ Behavior Led to Breakup
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Craig Conover opened up about the “confusing” behavior that led to his breakup with Paige DeSorbo during a candid conversation on Bravo‘s “Southern Charm.” The reality star, 35, revealed the challenges of their three-year relationship, citing DeSorbo’s indecisiveness about their future as a key factor in their split.
“I think everyone knows that, if it was up to me, we would just get engaged,” Conover told co-star Shep Rose during the Jan. 23 episode, filmed months before their December breakup. “But she changes her mind a lot about stuff.” Conover recounted instances where DeSorbo, 32, would express conflicting desires, such as wanting to build a farmhouse or move to Charleston, only to later declare her love for New York.
When Rose questioned whether DeSorbo’s reluctance to commit strained their relationship, Conover admitted, “It gets confusing.” In a confessional, he elaborated on his frustrations, particularly regarding their differing timelines for starting a family. “Me waiting a few years to have a kid, not a big deal,” Conover said. “But what I’m risking is what if Paige wants to turn those couple years into 10 years?”
Despite the challenges, Conover emphasized his willingness to compromise. “I think that’s life, right?” he told Rose. “It’s a bunch of decisions and compromise.” However, DeSorbo’s indecisiveness ultimately led to their breakup, which Conover described as “very unexpected.”
In a heartfelt Instagram Stories post earlier this month, Conover shared his shock over the split. “I was very shocked, and it’s ok. It takes two people to be in a relationship,” he wrote. “You can’t control other people; you can only control how you react to it.” He also noted he was “still processing everything” after losing his “best friend.”
DeSorbo, for her part, described the breakup as amicable. “No one did anything. It wasn’t a bad thing,” she said during a Dec. 30 announcement. “I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want.” She praised Conover as “one of the best people” she’s ever met and expressed her continued support for him.
The couple’s relationship, which began in 2021, was a fan favorite on “Southern Charm” and DeSorbo’s show, “Summer House.” Fans can revisit their love story as “Southern Charm” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
