Credit One Bank Settlement Payments Begin for Eligible Customers

Las Vegas, NV — Credit One Bank, one of the largest credit card issuers in the United States, is now disbursing payments from a settlement related to alleged unfair debt collection practices. A class action lawsuit against the bank has resulted in approximately $14 million being set aside for affected consumers. The payments come after years of legal scrutiny over the bank’s alleged use of unauthorized robocalls.
The lawsuit, which was prompted by consumer complaints, accused Credit One and its affiliated debt collectors of making numerous robocalls to customers’ cell phones without their consent. This practice allegedly violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), which restricts the use of auto-dialers and pre-recorded messages without prior express consent from consumers.
Between 2014 and 2019, Credit One and its partners reportedly made millions of calls, violating federal laws by continuing to reach out even after customers asked them to stop. Instead of contesting the claims in court, Credit One decided to opt for a settlement, resulting in a fund of millions to compensate eligible individuals.
Consumers who are eligible for payment are those who received calls from Credit One or its debt collectors during the specified period without giving consent. A notification has been sent to potential class members, but those who did not receive it can still verify their eligibility through the official settlement website or by contacting the settlement administrator.
Individual payouts will vary based on the number of valid claims filed. Earlier estimates suggested each claimant might receive around $100, but the final amount will depend on how many people file claims. To claim a share of the settlement, individuals need to visit the official settlement website, use their Claim ID and PIN, and submit their claims before the deadline, usually within 60 to 90 days after the notification was issued.
For those who disagree with the terms of the settlement, there is an option to opt out or object within a given timeframe, which is clarified on the settlement website and in individual notices. This settlement underscores the importance of consumer rights and the legal recourse available to protect them.
