Customers across Australia are expressing frustration as they face extended delays in receiving furniture orders from a popular nationwide company, Johnny’s Furniture. The company, operated by Jonathan McDonald, has left customers waiting for months for their purchased items.

One customer, Peta, from Gold Coast, has been waiting for a large sofa ordered in December since her previous one was damaged in a storm. Despite paying $1350, she has yet to receive the couch with promised delivery dates shifting from April to June or July.

Similarly, Sam in Melbourne spent $2615 on furniture from Johnny’s Furniture’s sister store, Ashley Furniture HomeStore, in November. Months later, he is still waiting for a bedframe, bedside tables, and a bookcase with no concrete delivery in sight.

Yovanna, another customer, made her purchase back in October, consisting of a bed suite, queen bedframe, bedside tables, and a tallboy. Seven months later, she is still using a broken bed as she awaits a refund of $1,000 from Johnny’s Furniture.

A company search revealed that Jonathan McDonald also operates Ashley Furniture HomeStore branches in multiple locations across Victoria and New South Wales, all facing similar delays in fulfilling customer orders.

When approached for comments, Johnny’s Furniture attributed the delays to the ongoing impact of COVID-19, overseas factory closures, and domestic union actions disrupting the supply chain. McDonald emphasized the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and highlighted their efforts to address complaints on a case-by-case basis.

Despite assurances, customers like Peta, Sam, and Yovanna are left frustrated with incomplete orders and the lack of refunds, highlighting the challenges faced by consumers dealing with extended wait times in the furniture industry.
