The automotive manufacturer, Dacia, has announced its latest offering in the SUV segment – the Dacia Bigster. Unveiled on October 9, 2024, this compact SUV carries Dacia’s ambition to deliver economical solutions while catering to outdoor enthusiasts. The design embodies Dacia’s vision for scaling greater heights, both figuratively and literally, by creating a vehicle suitable for adventurous pursuits.

The Dacia Bigster is part of the C-segment SUVs, taking on competitors such as Volkswagen Golf, Opel Astra, and Renault Megane. It shares the CMF-B platform with Renault Clio and Dacia Sandero, promising a spacious interior capable of comfortably seating five adults. The design includes a boxy outline, new headlight and grille identity, roof rails, ‘Starkle’ body protection, and wheel options ranging from 17 to 19 inches.

Inside, the Bigster features enhancements aimed at passenger comfort and convenience. This includes an acoustic windscreen, thicker window glazing, improved engine soundproofing, and a substantial 667-liter boot space. Noteworthy interiors are accentuated by features like modular roof bars and a panoramic sunroof, which are part of the vehicle’s versatile off-road capabilities including accessories like a tent and cargo box.

The Bigster offers three powertrain options. The entry-level hybrid, named Hybrid 155, combines a 1.6-liter petrol engine producing 107bhp with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery. Next in the range is the TCe 140 model, equipped with a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a six-speed manual transmission. The lineup also includes the Bigster TCe 130 4×4, which offers a similar setup but adds a four-wheel-drive system with driving modes suitable for various terrains such as snow, mud, and off-road conditions.

Dacia is also offering three trim levels: Expression, Extreme, and Journey. Expression is the base trim, while Extreme includes features like hill descent control and a washable interior. The Journey trim is equipped with advanced amenities like an 18-inch wheel set, a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, a powered boot, satellite navigation, a 3D audio system, and cruise control.

David Durand, Dacia’s design chief, remarked, “With the all-new Bigster, we have stayed true to the intentions expressed in the Bigster Concept. Bigster is the ultimate expression of Dacia’s values and is now our brand’s flagship vehicle.” Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but the base model is expected to start at under £30,000.
