Danone Canada Yogurt Recall

Danone Canada has announced a recall of its Kirkland Signature Probiotic Yogurt, sold at Costco stores, due to a potential health risk. The company, in a statement, specified that the affected yogurt was available between September 3 and September 19, 2024. Customers are being advised not to consume these products and to return them for a full refund.

The recalled yogurt can be identified by the Costco Item number 1264134 and is marked with three “best before” dates: October 18, October 20, and October 22, 2024. The product comes in packs of 24.

“Danone Canada is recalling the Kirkland Signature Probiotic Yogurt as the product may contain a type of yeast that could cause illness to individuals with a compromised immune system,” the company’s statement read. While the food safety risk is considered low since the yeast does not thrive in refrigerated conditions, Danone Canada has taken this precautionary step.

Costco has updated its website to inform customers of the recall. It mentions, “The food safety risk is low, as this yeast is not known to grow in refrigerated temperatures.”

Danone Canada has also issued an apology for any inconvenience caused, urging consumers to share this recall information with anyone who might have received the yogurt as a gift.

This is the second yogurt recall by Danone Canada in September. Earlier this month, the company recalled its Kirkland Signature brand Greek Yogurt due to mold detection within the containers.

Costco customers are encouraged to return the affected products to a warehouse for a refund. For more information, affected consumers can contact the company from Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST.
