Salt Lake City, Utah – College football analyst David Pollack predicts that Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham will retire after the 2025 season. Pollack made his forecast during a recent episode of the See Ball Get Ball podcast, praising Whittingham’s successful tenure with the Utes.

Pollack noted, “We knew Utah would bounce back. We counted on that because of Kyle Whittingham’s track record. Nobody doubted that… I think it’s his last year. Everything I’ve heard, he’s going to go out after the season. But if he does go, he’ll go with the most unique offense he’s had.”

Whittingham, the head coach since 2005, has built an impressive record of 170 wins and 86 losses. His successful leadership includes guiding the 2008 team to a perfect 13-0 season, culminating in a Sugar Bowl victory. The Utes, after a tough 5-7 finish last year, are off to a strong start this season with a 3-0 record.

Transfer quarterback Devon Dampier, who joined from New Mexico, has significantly impacted the team’s performance, throwing for 628 yards and seven touchdowns without an interception, alongside 198 rushing yards.

Four players have rushed for more than 100 yards this season, and the Utes have the most 20+ yard rushing plays in the Big 12 with seven. Pollack expressed admiration for the team’s offensive capabilities, especially as they prepare to face No. 17 Texas Tech this week, marking a challenging matchup.

As the 2025 season progresses, attention will remain on Whittingham and the Utes, especially with Pollack’s retirement prediction putting a spotlight on the coach’s intentions for the future.
