David Warner Breaks Special Record by Scoring Fifty Runs in 100th T20 International Match
Australia and West Indies clashed in the first T20I match of the series at Hobart‘s Bellerive Oval. David Warner showcased a fantastic performance, scoring a blazing 70 runs in his 100th T20 International match. Warner’s innings included 12 boundaries and 1 six, with a strike rate of 194.44.
Warner made history by becoming the first cricketer to score over 50 runs in each of the three cricket formats in their 100th match. Warner previously scored a double century in his 100th Test against South Africa and a century in his 100th ODI against India.
In addition to Warner, Ross Taylor from New Zealand and Virat Kohli from India have also played 100 matches in all formats but failed to achieve this milestone. Warner began the match aggressively, providing the Australian team with a commanding lead right from the start.
Batting alongside Josh Inglis, Warner contributed significantly to their opening partnership of 93 runs. Inglis scored 39 runs, Tim David scored 37, and Matthew Wade added 21 runs to push the Australian team past 200 runs. Warner was later dismissed after his impactful innings, setting the stage for other Australian batsmen to consolidate the innings.
On the bowling front, Andre Russell took three wickets for the West Indies, with Alzarri Joseph also contributing with a couple of crucial breakthroughs against the Australian batsmen. Despite Warner’s tremendous performance, the West Indies will aim to level the series after drawing the Test series 1-1 and losing the ODI series 3-0 against Australia in recent matches.
