Daylight Saving Time 2024: When and How the ‘Fall Back’ Affects You
Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States is set to come to an end on Sunday, November 3, 2024. This marks the annual transition from DST to standard time, a practice commonly known as “falling back.”
The change occurs at 2 a.m. local time on the first Sunday of November. During this transition, clocks will be set back by one hour, resulting in an extra hour of sleep for most people. This adjustment is intended to make better use of daylight during the winter months by moving the clock back to standard time.
The end of DST can have various effects on people’s health and daily routines. It is advisable to prepare for the change by adjusting sleep schedules a few days in advance to minimize disruptions. Additionally, the time change can impact other aspects such as work schedules, travel plans, and electronic devices that may need manual adjustments.
It is important to note that not all states observe DST; for example, Hawaii and most of Arizona do not follow this practice. However, for the majority of the U.S., the “fall back” on November 3 will mark the end of DST for 2024.
