Death Grips Band Performance On Stage

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Death Grips have officially dismissed speculation about their breakup, asserting their continued activity as a band. In a post shared on Instagram, core members Stefan “MC Ride” Burnett and Zach Hill revealed a handwritten note stating, “Despite rumor and hearsay, we remain active as Death Grips.” The confirmation comes following concerns among fans that were sparked earlier this year.

The rumors of a breakup began after a private comment from part-time member Andy Morin was leaked. In the comment, Morin suggested that Burnett no longer desired to be part of the group, but he also noted, “Truthfully, none of us can ever predict what will happen with the group.” This uncertainty has long been a part of Death Grips’ narrative, as the band faced a similar wave of speculation in 2014, which ended in their return with new music a year later.

Despite the challenges and fragmentation often associated with their creative process, Death Grips has maintained a reputation for releasing innovative music. They surprised fans in 2015 with the releases of “Fashion Week” and “The Powers That B” after their brief hiatus. Most recently, the band put out their album “Year of the Snitch” in 2018 and performed live for the last time in 2023.

The recent Instagram post serves to reassure fans that Death Grips is still united. With the group’s history of unexpected twists and turns, both the members and their followers appear to embrace the uncertainty as part of the band’s identity.
