Delhi Bomb Blast Crpf School Rohini

A powerful explosion occurred near a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) school in New Delhi‘s Rohini area on Sunday, causing significant damage but no injuries. The blast, which happened around 7:50 am, damaged the school wall, shattered windowpanes of nearby shops, and wrecked several parked cars.

The incident has been claimed by a pro-Khalistan group through a post on the Telegram messaging app. The group, associated with the ‘Justice League India‘ channel, stated that the explosion was in retaliation for the alleged targeting of Khalistani separatists by Indian agents. The post included a video of the blast with a “Khalistan Zindabad” watermark and a message threatening further action.

Delhi Police have initiated an investigation and have reached out to Telegram for details about the channel where the claim was made. The police are probing a possible Khalistani connection and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and National Security Guard (NSG) are also involved in the investigation.

The explosion is believed to have been caused by a low-intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED) controlled by a timer or remote, without any shrapnel or ball bearings. Traces of low explosives, including a white powdery substance suspected to be from a crude homemade bomb made with ammonium phosphate and other chemicals, were found at the site. Forensic experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), CRPF, and NSG are analyzing the samples to determine the exact chemicals used.

The blast is thought to have been intended to send a warning or message rather than cause significant damage, as it occurred early in the morning when the area was not crowded. The area has been cordoned off, and security has been heightened in Delhi, especially ahead of the Diwali festival.

Delhi Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Indian Explosives Act to continue the probe. The incident has raised public alarm, particularly in the context of multiple bomb threat calls received by airlines across India.
