Denise Richards Alleges Abuse from Estranged Husband in Court Testimony
LOS ANGELES – Denise Richards broke down in tears in court on Monday as she detailed allegations of abuse against her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers. Richards, who stars in “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” testified about her difficult relationship during a hearing for a temporary restraining order against Phypers.
Richards, dressed in blue leather, shared incidents of physical and emotional abuse, recalling specific instances that left her fearful for her life. “That is when I really, really knew that our marriage was over because there’s been physical abuse, but it kept getting worse and worse,” she said.
She recounted a terrifying episode at the Four Seasons hotel shortly after undergoing extensive cosmetic surgery. “He got very volatile with me… made me feel a lot of things. Scared and vulnerable. I couldn’t walk by myself,” she testified.
Richards described further instances of abuse, including one where Phypers allegedly grabbed her arms and berated her, calling her derogatory names. “I was three weeks out of a breast augmentation, lipo and the face lift. I was feeling extremely vulnerable and in pain,” she said. “I asked him to please stay at the other house with his family. I needed to rest and heal.”
Richards, who is 5-foot-4, mentioned feeling particularly threatened by Phypers, who stands 6 feet tall. She expressed how his actions caused her physical pain after delicate surgeries, and described a memory of waking up to him squeezing her head in anger over her texting another man.
“He said, ‘You f—ing b—-, I just saw you’ve been talking to Rudy,'” Richards recalled, adding that the confrontation intensified as he threatened her. She explained that these interactions left her feeling scared and vulnerable.
During the proceedings, Phypers was present as well, having filed for divorce earlier this year citing irreconcilable differences. He has denied all allegations of abuse. In statement, Phypers said, “I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise – or anyone. These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful.”
Richard’s accusations include incidents where she was allegedly choked, slammed against furniture, and once, threatened with death if she reported his behavior. A judge granted her a restraining order on July 17.
A court hearing later this week will continue the proceedings regarding their separation and mutual allegations.
