Denise Richards’ Ex-Husband Arrested in Court on Spousal Abuse Charges

LOS ANGELES — Aaron Phypers, the estranged husband of actress Denise Richards, was arrested in a Los Angeles courtroom on spousal abuse charges on Friday. Phypers, 53, was taken into custody after a hearing related to Richards’ request for a permanent restraining order against him.
According to reports, Phypers was handcuffed by deputies and struggled as he was escorted out of the courtroom. He allegedly resisted arrest and argued with officers while being led down an escalator. Authorities later returned to retrieve his cellphone.
Richards, 54, filed for a temporary restraining order against Phypers in July, citing instances of physical and emotional abuse throughout their marriage. She testified in court that he attempted to damage her reputation and leaked private photos of her, stating, “It’s been difficult for my daughters, especially with the naked photos.”
In a recent court document, Richards described troubling incidents involving Phypers, claiming he violently choked her and threatened her life. She stated he caused her at least three concussions during their relationship, often using intense physical force.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, Richards expressed her distress, recalling an altercation after her cosmetic surgery where Phypers allegedly became “volatile” and hit her. “That is when I really, really knew that our marriage was over… made me feel scared and vulnerable,” she stated.
Phypers, on the other hand, has denied all allegations against him, claiming that Richards’ accusations were false and part of a strategy to damage his reputation. “These claims are not only untrue—they are being weaponized to damage my reputation,” he stated in an interview.
As the divorce proceedings continue, Phypers is also seeking half of Richards’ income from her OnlyFans account, estimated at up to $300,000 per month. He claims the photographs posted on the site are his intellectual property and thus joint income.
The latest developments in the ongoing legal battle have drawn significant media attention as both parties have made serious allegations against each other. A judge has continued the temporary restraining order until the next hearing set for November 7.
