Denver Broncos Vs New York Jets 2023

Denver Broncos running back Tyler Badie was injured during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. The injury occurred when Badie was tackled by Jets linebacker Quincy Williams on a third down. The Broncos secured a narrow victory over the Jets, with a final score of 10-9.

The incident began as Badie caught a screen pass from quarterback Bo Nix and turned up the field on a third-and-13 play. As Williams attempted to tackle him, his helmet made contact with Badie’s lower back, causing a fumble. Badie managed to walk to the sidelines under his own effort but collapsed shortly thereafter, requiring medical attention.

A backboard was promptly brought onto the field, and Badie was strapped down and carted off. Initial reports from the Broncos announced that he had sustained a back injury, with his return to the game being questionable. However, he was later ruled out for the rest of the match.

Badie, who had been part of the Broncos’ practice squad throughout the 2023 season and the early part of this year, was promoted to the active roster this week. Before the incident, he had participated in the game with 86 rushing yards on 10 carries. The Broncos deemed him their leading rusher coming into Sunday’s match.

Following the game, Broncos head coach Sean Payton could not provide an update on Badie’s condition or confirm whether he would accompany the team back to Denver. However, according to reports by KOA Colorado’s Brandon Krisztal, Badie flew home on a commercial flight accompanied by a medical team member.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport later remarked that Badie had “full movement of his arms and legs,” suggesting recovery is optimistic, though an IR designation this season remains a possibility. Rapoport stated that Badie might return to play before the season concludes.
