Metro Denver drivers faced the fastest-growing traffic delays in the nation in 2024, with congestion increasing by 19% compared to the previous year, according to a report by Seattle-based transportation data firm INRIX. The analysis, released Monday, found that Denver ranks 15th among the most congested U.S. cities, with drivers losing an average of 44 hours to traffic jams in 2024, up from 37 hours in 2023.

The average speed of vehicles heading toward downtown Denver dropped by 7% to 13 miles per hour, said Bob Pishue, senior analyst at INRIX and author of the report.
