Thomas Bordeleau Trade San Jose Devils

NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey Devils announced today that they have traded forward Shane Bowers to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Thomas Bordeleau. This move aims to enhance the team’s roster as the offseason progresses.

Bordeleau, a 23-year-old forward, was recently extended a qualifying offer by the Sharks, making him a restricted free agent. The trade was confirmed by Devils President and General Manager Tom Fitzgerald, along with Assistant General Manager Dan MacKinnon.

Over the past four seasons with the Sharks organization, Bordeleau has played both in the American Hockey League (AHL) and the National Hockey League (NHL). During his time in the AHL, he accumulated 107 points (47 goals, 60 assists) in 161 games. His performance in the 2024-25 season was notable, as he scored 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists), ranking sixth among his AHL affiliates.

Bordeleau made his NHL debut on April 17, 2022, against the Minnesota Wild and has since played in 44 NHL games, recording 18 points (6 goals, 12 assists). Prior to joining the professional ranks, he excelled at the University of Michigan, where he was recognized as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2020-21, leading all freshmen in college scoring.

Shane Bowers, 25, joined the Devils from the AHL’s Utica Comets, where he played for two seasons. He recorded a total of 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 108 games with Utica and attained 12 of those points during his brief tenure with New Jersey in the previous season.

Sharks General Manager Mike Grier expressed enthusiasm about acquiring Bowers, emphasizing his strong skating and competitive edge on both ends of the ice. The trade underscores a strategic move for San Jose as they look to reinforce their roster ahead of the next season.
