Diesel Brothers’ David Sparks Arrested in Utah Over Legal Issues

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — David “Heavy D” Sparks, one of the stars of the reality show “Diesel Brothers,” was arrested on October 7, 2025, following a bench warrant issued for contempt of court related to a Clean Air Act lawsuit. The warrant was signed on October 2, stemming from Sparks’ failure to pay over $843,602.23 in fines associated with the lawsuit, which was filed by Utah Physicians for a Healthy Environment.
The lawsuit alleges Sparks, along with codefendants Joshua Stuart and companies Diesel Power Gear LLC and B&W Auto LLC, knowingly violated federal pollution control requirements by modifying diesel vehicles. U.S. District Judge Robert J. Shelby ruled against them in 2020, leading to a court order for payment in 2021.
Despite multiple warnings and a contempt ruling in June 2024, Sparks and his co-defendants failed to comply with the court’s order. This prompted the issuance of the bench warrant, which was enforced by federal marshals on Tuesday morning.
Sparks, 40, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail around 7:33 AM. His hearing was initially scheduled for Wednesday but has been postponed at the request of his defense team due to scheduling conflicts.
“Mr. Sparks was not arrested for a crime; this is a civil matter regarding attorney fees,” said his attorney Cole Cannon. Sparks has appeared on “Diesel Brothers” since its premiere in 2016, where he and his friend David “Diesel Dave” Kiley showcase truck modifications.
As this story develops, further updates will be provided regarding Sparks’ legal issues and upcoming court dates.
