Alex Vesia Dodgers Stillborn Daughter

LOS ANGELES, CA — Alex Vesia, a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and his wife, Kayla, are grieving the stillbirth of their daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia. The couple announced their loss in a heartfelt Instagram post on Friday, Nov. 7, revealing that their daughter passed away on Sunday, Oct. 26.

“Our little angel,” they wrote, including a touching photo of their hands on their daughter’s. “We love you forever & you’re with us always.” The couple expressed that words cannot capture the pain they are experiencing but emphasized that they will cherish every moment spent with their daughter.

Vesia and Kayla thanked the Dodgers organization for their support during this difficult time, especially following the team’s recent World Series victory. “Our baseball family showed up for us, and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them,” the couple shared.

They also extended their gratitude to fans, expressing appreciation for the outpouring of love and support they received. “Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization, and all baseball fans for your love and support. It has brought us so much comfort,” they noted.

Additionally, they thanked the medical staff at Cedars Sinai for their care. “Every person we came across was truly so incredible,” they concluded the post.

Before the World Series, Vesia had stepped away from the team due to this deeply personal matter. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had acknowledged that the organization was supportive of Vesia during his absence, stating, “It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife navigate a deeply personal family matter.”

The team chose not to place Vesia on the Family Medical Emergency List, prioritizing his well-being over roster decisions. “This is so much bigger than baseball,” said Andrew Friedman, President of Baseball Operations. “For us, it was about being supportive.”

During the World Series, several Dodgers players paid tribute to Vesia by wearing his number 51 on their caps. This act of solidarity highlighted the tight-knit nature of the team and the importance of supporting each other during challenges.

Though no estimated return date has been set for Vesia, it is believed he will continue to focus on his family’s needs as they navigate this difficult time.
