Doja Cat’s Mother Seeks Restraining Order Against Brother, Alleges Abuse

Doja Cat‘s mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, has filed for a restraining order against her son, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, alleging verbal and physical abuse towards her and the rapper. Legal documents obtained by TMZ reveal that Sawyer claims Dlamini physically assaulted Doja Cat, causing injuries, and has been verbally abusive towards her.

Sawyer accuses her son of destructive behavior, including stealing and damaging Doja Cat’s property. She describes Dlamini’s manner of speaking to her daughter as degrading and demeaning, leaving her feeling unsafe and traumatized.

Doja Cat’s father, Dumisani Dlamini, is a South African dancer and actor who moved back to South Africa. As a result, Sawyer raised Doja Cat and her brother in an ashram in L.A. Doja Cat has previously mentioned that she doesn’t have a relationship with her father.

While growing up, Doja Cat’s brother, Dlamini, made fun of her for not having many Black friends, as reported in a profile article. According to Alexis Haines, who babysat Doja Cat and Dlamini, he had behavioral issues that took up a lot of space in their household, potentially leaving less room for Doja Cat’s feelings.

TMZ also reports that Sawyer had previously obtained a restraining order against Dlamini, which has since expired. The judge granted court-ordered protection to Sawyer pending a hearing for a restraining order, but Doja Cat will have to file her own paperwork to request the same.
