Milwaukee City Hall Lockdown Incident

MILWAUKEE — City Hall and the Zeidler Municipal Building in downtown Milwaukee are on lockdown after shots were fired in the Zeidler Building Thursday afternoon.

Press secretary Jeff Fleming from the Milwaukee Mayor’s Office reported that the “threat has been diminished” around 3:40 p.m. Fleming stated that shots were fired in a stairwell of the Zeidler Building, and authorities believe the suspect has left the area.

Fleming further confirmed it is not thought that the suspect intended to harm anyone. Officials have advised those inside City Hall to remain in their offices with the doors locked as a precautionary measure.

Law enforcement is currently working to evacuate everyone safely from both buildings. Reports have emerged from other nearby buildings that staff have also been instructed to shelter in place.

Representative Gwen Moore responded to the incident on social media, expressing her concern and thanking law enforcement for their prompt response, stating, “I am monitoring the ongoing situation at the Zeidler Municipal Building, praying for the safety of all involved.”
