Dragons’ Den Recap: Four Startups Pitch for Investment in Season’s Latest Episode
Four innovative startups made their way to the renowned Dragons' Den seeking investment in the latest episode of the season. Each entrepreneur took the opportunity to present their unique business ideas to the panel of dragons.
London-based entrepreneur Joe Woolf introduced the panel to Tasty Mates, a startup that offers gourmet gummy sweets with a twist. The brand’s vegan and gluten-free sweet varieties, including Very Berry, Salted Caramel, Peaches & Cream, and Pear Crumble, caught the dragons’ attention.
Following the pitch, Peter Jones decided to invest £60k in Tasty Mates, acquiring a 15% stake in the company. Tasty Mates, founded in 2021 by Woolf and Nick Sunshine, plans to utilize the investment for inventory management and a brand refresh.
After securing the investment, Woolf and Sunshine intend to launch a funding round on Seedrs to scale their white-label business over the coming years. The brand has already made significant strides by securing listings in key retailers in the UK and expanding internationally to markets like the US and Australia.
Another standout pitch was Müll Club, a recycling business launched in 2022 with a mission to transform plastic waste into stylish, long-lasting products. The innovative approach of Müll Club impressed the dragons, with Steven Bartlett praising the beauty of the products created from recycled plastic.
Cook My Grub, now rebranded as Flavers, is a delivery meals service that connects home chefs with food enthusiasts. Founders Shabbir Mookhtiar and Dinesh Patil showcased their platform that offers a wide range of home-cooked, authentic meals delivered straight to customers’ doors.
Randy Cow, a cheeky beachwear brand founded in 2019 by Dave Weller, made a splash in the den with its vibrant swim shorts featuring waterproof pockets. The brand’s commitment to sustainability, with each pair of shorts made from recycled materials, was highlighted during the pitch.
