Veteran Actress Lynne Marta Passes Away at 78
Veteran actress Lynne Marta, best known for her roles in the musical classic Footloose and films like Red Sky at Morning and Joe Kidd, has passed away at the age of 78. Marta died at her home in Los Angeles after a battle with cancer.
Born in New Jersey, Marta began her career as a dancer on the syndicated show The Lloyd Thaxton Show. She made her onscreen debut in the sitcom Gidget and went on to appear in episodes of The Monkees, Then Came Bronson, The Man and the City, and The F.B.I.
Marta’s television appearances also included shows like Starsky and Hutch, Charlie’s Angels, Law & Order, ER, and Crossing Jordan. She held a season-long role on Days of Our Lives as Charlene Higgins and made memorable appearances in movies such as Footloose, where she played Lulu Warnicker.
Outside of her acting career, Marta made headlines in 1989 when she testified in the murder trial of actor Rebecca Schaeffer. Marta, who lived in the same apartment building as Schaeffer, called 911 after hearing a gunshot and the actress screaming. Her testimony helped convict the accused killer, Robert John Bardo.
Lynne Marta is survived by her sister MJ and her beloved cat, Mr. Peaches. She will be remembered for her immense talent and contributions to the entertainment industry.
