Duke Energy Substation Repair Greensboro Nc

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Duke Energy announced a temporary power outage affecting 1,400 customers in East Greensboro on Thursday, Jan. 9, to repair substation equipment damaged ahead of expected winter weather. The outage will last from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., impacting neighborhoods including Kings Forest, Woodmere Park, Nealtown Farms, and areas along Franklin Blvd. and White Street.

The utility company stated the repairs are necessary to prevent potential equipment failure and a longer outage. “The repair and outage were necessary to prevent an equipment failure and a potentially longer outage for customers,” a Duke Energy representative said in a statement.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to prepare for the outage, which coincides with cold winter temperatures. Duke Energy emphasized the importance of addressing the damage before the forecasted snow arrives on Friday.

Local facilities will remain open to provide support for residents during the outage. Duke Energy has not provided additional details on the specific nature of the substation damage but assured customers that the repairs are critical to maintaining reliable service.
