Duke Energy Reports Widespread Power Outages in North Carolina

JACKSON COUNTY, N.C. — Duke Energy has reported more than 200 power outages affecting nearly 16,000 customers across North Carolina as of early Sunday morning.
The outages are concentrated in Western North Carolina, where numerous counties are experiencing disruptions in service. Duke Energy confirmed that the power outages have impacted residents and businesses in several regions.
As of 4:05 a.m. on March 16, 2025, the utility provider is working to restore the service as quickly as possible. Crews have been deployed to assess the damage and begin repairs.
Duke Energy spokesperson, Sarah Thompson, stated, “Our teams are mobilizing to restore power and we appreciate our customers’ patience as we work to resolve these issues.”
The utility has encouraged residents to report any outages through their online platform or mobile app. This situation remains fluid, and further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
